Welcome back!

Welcome back from spring break! I did read several books which I will tell you about soon, but for now I'm just going to share a few pictures I took on my trip. It was pretty amazing in the Virgin Islands! Come by and tell me about your vacation and the things you saw and read. I'm looking forward to seeing you :-)

Enjoy the pics!

Tune in Monday: 1:30 PM Pacific time

You can see me here on Monday at 1:30 PM Pacific time. I'll be taking a break from reading on the beach to wave to you. Hope you enjoy your spring break - I know I'm going to enjoy mine!

Happy St. FITZPatrick's day!

According to Irish mythology, a leprechaun can be forced into sharing his gold with you. But, of course, there is a catch. In order to convince him to share, you must keep your eyes on him constantly. If you turn your head, he's likely to vanish in the blink of an eye.

The Leprechaun
The Leprechaun is an Irish faery

From down County Cork or from far Tipperary.

They’re tiny and short,

A mere two feet in height.

They work on their shoes

And their terrible fright

Is that you will stop by
And demand all their gold

All hidden away in a
Tree’s hollow hold.
They’re tricky and clever
Turn your eyes for a moment,
This faery will flee.

A plan that is better,

Truth to be told,
Just pay him a visit

And earn your own gold!

2 teen art contests

Multnomah County's summer reading art contest is ending soon. Entries are due March 18th. If you want an entry form, go to the library webpage.

young adult, teen, fiction,Kaleb Nation,Bran Hambric,Joy Preble,Dreaming AnastasiaThere is also another art contest going on at TeenFire. In Ty Drago's upcoming tween thriller THE UNDERTAKERS: RISE OF THE CORPSES, twelve-year-old Will Ritter battles an invasion of animated Corpses that only he and his friends can see. Corpses hide in plain sight and can be disguised as anyone: teachers, doctors, policemen ... anyone at all.

Sourcebooks Jabberwocky and Ty Drago are announcing a drawing contest for anyone aged 8 to 17. The rules are simple: draw in black and white OR color, a rotting cadaver pretending to be a normal person. No rags on these dead guys. Suits. Uniforms. Swim trunks. Hoodies. Let your imagination soar! The grosser and scarier, the better!

The winner will receive a signed Advanced Reading Copy of THE UNDERTAKERS: RISE OF THE CORPSES. He or she will also have her winning drawing displayed on the front page of the UNDERTAKERS website (www.jointheundertakers.com).

Contest runs from March 1 through March 31, 2011.

Congratulations Bookwolves!

The Bookwolves - Ally, Everett, Katie and Lenora - represented WOMS at the Regional OBOB Tournament this past Saturday. They did a great job representing West Orient, and I'm very proud of them. Congratulations on being the WOMS champions and making it to regionals. Well done!

If I Ran the Zoo - The Seussebration continues

7th graders created animals after reading If I Ran the Zoo yesterday. Some crazy ideas in those brains of theirs- take a look.

Thing 1 or thing 2?

Fun with photobooth at lunch recess. Do you know who the student is?

Crazy socks EVERYWHERE!

So excited to see all the fun socks roaming around WOMS today in the spirit of Dr. Seuss. Props to Juliana for loaning me the red and white striped socks to complete my ensemble. Happy birthday Dr. Seuss!!!!
